Lead

CRT monitors contain leaded glass, and due to the technology age we live in CRT's have become the largest source of lead in municipal waste, the amount of lead found equates to approximately 4-5 pounds in weight per monitor, or approximately 20% of the overall weight of the monitor.

Cadmium

Found in rechargeable batteries (NiCd), these batteries are found in most laptops and desktop computers (Motherboards), currently being one of the largest sources of cadmium in municipal waste. Long and high exposures to Cadmium can result in adverse health risks most notably lung and Kidney damage, and has also been associated with varying types of cancer.
